How to avoid neck and shoulder tension during the cold weather!

During the cold weather it is very common to tense and lift your shoulders, to try and protect yourself from the cold. This change in posture can cause muscle tension and pain in the neck and shoulders. One way to reduce this is to wear a hat and scarf. A lot of heat can be lost through the head and neck, so wearing a hat and scarf can help to insulate heat and help you to relax your neck and shoulder muscles. Keeping moving when outside during the cold weather can also help to keep you warm, which in turn can help you to relax your neck and shoulder muscles.

It can also help to be aware of your posture when you're outside during the cold weather. Maintaining a good upright posture and keeping your shoulders relaxed can help to avoid tension and pain building up. If you are feeling pain and tension that is not relieved by these methods, you may require a massage or Physiotherapy treatment.
