Choice Physio 2019 year round up

Since starting small in a treatment room in Bell Pharmacy (Bell Street) at the end of 2017, Choice Physio Ltd moved into a larger premises in September 2018 and has since grown into a team of local Physiotherapists who love helping people and being in the centre of the wonderful town of Sawbridgeworth!

Choice Physio Ltd was founded by Physiotherapist Katy Short, who grew up in Sawbridgeworth and got married in the church here! Katy had previously gained extensive experience in private practice and worked in clinics with two different ex-professional football Physiotherapists. She also worked as a Physiotherapist for the Ministry of defence at an air base, and completed the NHS rotation scheme, gaining experience in neurological, surgical, respiratory and cardiac rehabilitation. She uses a variety of hands on techniques to help her clients recover, and is qualified to perform acupuncture.

Katy was initially providing Physiotherapy services from the treatment room in Bell Pharmacy, working alongside the lovely team there. As the clinic became busier, more room was required in order to expand the working hours and services offered. In September 2018 Choice Physio were very excited to get the keys to 47, Bell Street - the new premises for the clinic!

Geoff Short (Katy’s husband) began working at Choice Physio Ltd in January 2019, working as the practice manager and greeting the lovely clients with a smile and a friendly face! Geoff enjoys being in the clinic and can empathise with patients who are keen to get back to sports, as he used to compete to a high level in swimming, winning several national titles and competing at world championships trials. He also competed internationally, winning state competitions in Australia and winning Scottish Nationals for 50metres butterfly.

In March 2019, senior Physiotherapist Helen Davison joined the Choice Physio Ltd team. Helen, who also lives local to the clinic, has eight years experience working as a Physiotherapist in a variety of musculoskeletal settings. Helen is a brilliant hands on therapist, who tailors her treatments to the individual according to their needs. Helen has a specialist interest in chronic (long term) pain conditions, such as fibromyalgia, and is qualified to perform acupuncture as well as a variety of other manual therapy techniques.

In September 2019 Physiotherapist Emma Hannibal-Smith joined the team. After gaining two degrees (in Sports and Physiotherapy), Emma has worked primarily in private clinics and as a disability and blue badge analyst over the last six years. Emma is also a hands on therapist, who loves to release a good trigger point (knot) when massaging! Emma is also qualified to perform acupuncture and is APPI qualified to provide Physiotherapy led one to one pilates rehabilitation. This can be very beneficial for patients rehabilitation, particularly for back pain.

Our latest addition to the team is Physiotherapist Greg Barnes, who joined the team in November 2019. Greg is the Lead Academy Physiotherapist at Colchester United Football Club, and has been the representing Physiotherapist at several of the first team matches. Greg has also gained two degrees, in Sports Therapy and Physiotherapy, and works at the clinic part time on Tuesday’s and Saturday’s. Greg has also previously worked in private practice clinics, as well as being the first team therapist for Aberdeen Football Club.

Judy and Brady both work on reception part time, providing a friendly welcome and helping with whatever they can to provide best experience for our clients.

Choice Physio Ltd are proud to have an experienced team of female and male Physiotherapists, who want to help keep the local community pain and injury free and moving! If there is anything we can do to help please feel free to call us on 01279 882518 and we will do our best to help you recover and reach your goals as quickly as possible!
